Well well well, after working for the last few years..( how many years?) cannot quite remember or quite frankly do not wish to rememeber. I notice a few things that have gotten me worried. most of use are REALLY in a bubble ... The Singapore bubble. We seem so fragile and we ARE. The economy has come to the point where the MNCs are now not wanting or have less regards to have their offices based here. more and more foreign talents are coming to take over... cheaper talents from less developed countries, and the local legislation is not doing much either.
sometimes i envy the PIONEERS of Singpaore, they build Singapore from scratch and made our country to such a nice and fabulous city..... NOT!..these PIONEERS are also the top management of today, and what are they doing? I am sure most of you are familiar with the term cost reduction. yes they take away all the perks that they have been enjoying for the last few decades to make them look good.... the parent company seeing .. "hey! singapore is improving and maintaining after so much" but HEY back! the whole nation is suffering.....and what happens to the cost of reduction to have MNC come in? they UP the GST by 1%...well if they really leave we are pretty much screwed????....
The government expect the graduates to have more kids, as our young population is decreasing .. but can we really afford it? well GRADUATES are like the ??best?? and we are the ??future?? yet i think most of them are like monkeys in the eyes of the MNcs and our countries. Promoting this and that.... knn if they pay me enough I do not mind have 5 kids.. but it just does not work out, the equation just does not work out. even for a non Grad ...i do not see myself providing enough for my kids like my father had.... this perception is very strong but i like kid too much to not have them. Come on.. show us some REAL support/s.
Inflation in Singapore is red-ly scary... 10 years ago and now the chicken rice has rasied its price by 30% or more. but the pay of a fresh grad or any other sector have increased much. or should i say have "decreased".... not really...IT HAS DECREASED.
Does anyone know how much is the the pay of a fresh grad to a MNC???? If I am not wrong, a BBA or Arts grad will get about from S$1500~S$1800 and an engineering grad with get about S$2000~S$2200. Let me know if this amount is too much. Yes, this is what a freash grad is worth. a factory worker with OT can easily get this amount without much problem. The "norm" person working for about 2~3 year will reach at age of 24~26 depending on male/female (because of the NS that male have to commit..2 years) Anyway, so by this age or maybe 2 more years, how much is their income????.... the more ridiculous pay increment of today is a real joke.... Jap companies will be from S$50~S$90.. YES no more percentage increase liaoz. I know many.. and i can say many many with 4~5 years of working in a company with a degree and getting less than S$3000. we can forget about bonuses.. as the trend for bonus is getting from low to ZERO...So you expect the graduates to have a family and have many kids with a total family income of S$5000±150. That seems to be the case isn't it... some may say "wow! that is a lot.... why don't the minister try to get his family going with this level of income... it is close to impossible for a family to survive without both parent working... a norm for many years? well, think again. We are now just barely surviving.
a very interesting morning session with mobileTV i had - usual ride to work. there was this CONSULTANT from US or UK.. pai seh cannot remember. but an ang moh lah. the channel news asia host was introducing this CONSULTANT which is a finiacial expert. And the question posted to him was how much does an average person need to save per month so that they are sure to be comfortable with supporting their children for higher education and also for their retirement.... the AMOUNT given was S$1000 each for each working adult.... meaning both parent have to save S$1000 each per month... the sudden shock can be seen in the host's reaction( his sudden pause of silence)*laugh* but the show continued with the subject being push away.... I mean probably what this CONSULTANT guy meant is to have a luxury life? but NO.. S$1000 was a min... I would believe this amount is relatively accurate, with reference to the inlfation rate that we are heading. ok now let me put this into perspective:
-S$1000 (saving)
-S$500~600 (daily expenses like meals and transport)
-S$300 (some insurance or something)
-S$500 (for parent)...personally i feel it is too little but hey.. this is just an estimate
So total is about S$2400.. hahahahaha what a joke... how many people in Singapore earns this amount (take home pay) ??? he would have to command a pay of S$3000 right? ok even if the S$300 insurance is put into the S$1000(savings) .. the person also have to earn a take home pay of S$2100... hahahahaha...I am sorry if I sound a bit bias with only the subjects of graduates but "graduates" are suppose to be just the level of people that is so well mentioned and is kinda like a benchmark lah...
so now... i seem to have forgotten some other stuff.... oh yah...babies... i forgot all about the babies....how much do we need to support them?
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD ANYWAY.....
stay tuned ... some BGR issues from my friend :D
