"Molding" Singapore.... what more can be done?
Singapore have so far been molded ...... into what you see around you today. Compared to many other countries we are still a very young country. And I believe there is more to be done before we can truly say we are fully developed. The thing is this, we can be considered a developed country in many many ways. Just look at our infrastructure.... absolutely stunning for a country of our size. Look at our buildings, the banks, our Business District.... sky scrapping for both Commercial and Residential Buildings. Singapore is after all a very small country, so the sky is the way to go.
BUT....if you look around us in industrial areas, electronic electrical areas... we are not quite there... Why not?..some might ask. Well how many Singapore origin stuff are there in your household? We do not have space to promote large scale agriculture to provide for all but other then thatwe really do not have anything. The only real international BRAND with the technology on a true global scale is CREATIVE. Yes, the people who brought you sound for your PCs. No matter how bad quality their products have been (all made in china) They ARE successful! And they are chasing the ICON-nified iPOD.
The point IS... we do not really build anything..... which I am quite sad. I have been to quite a few countries Europe and for these few year S.E.A as well. Let's not talk about Europe, since that is very much a where a lot of stuff came from. Let's take a look at Asia.
- Malaysia.... simple to the fact... Proton....Yes i know it is not a very likable car but it is making waves all over. I am Particularly intringued by a segment of TopGear http://www.vrforums.com/showthread.php?t=53636
- India : TATA Cars..
- Korean .... Samsung, LG
That is the reason why the molding of modern Singapore have to start now. The planning starts HERE... and NOW. The current is not the modern Singapore. The current is the molded Singapore of yester-years. Years of dominance of hard actions and strict rules, that has forced us into this predicament. This Era where the dragon emerges and the tiger leaps. You see, in Singapore you will be jailed if you do not "apply" for a "license" to have a rally, strike, ...etc.. In many ways, I agree and disagree in this. It is true that many rallies and strikes of yester-years involved many lives, limps and destruction. Brutal force works but it is not necessary the only way to move things. But on the other hand which government body will APPPROVE of such application? Thus, such uproar has been extinct since....
Personally, I feel that we can do away with the fights and brutal actions. And that is here... on the net. I am pretty confident the only way Singapore is ever going to get a real TRUE voices out is a rally on the net... sad isn't it? But if it works, what the hack.
I suppose one of the reasons for blogging and the reason why blogging is so popular in Singapore is because of this...
